A strong, innate desire to travel

It’s Season 5 of Wanderlust Greece and our presenters are off to the islands of the North Aegean. Ikaria, Samos, Lesvos, Chios and Lemnos. A collection of magical isles totally authentic and unspoilt… all the way down to their ancient Greek roots.

Love here comes at first sight, but understanding what makes these island gems tick is another story.

On Lemnos we learn the secret of being comfortable with exactly who you are. If you’re soil’s volcanic, then grow stumpy little vines that produce grapes packed with flavour. If you’re island landscape includes a remote rock formation on the top of a hill that half-resembles a natural shelter, then build a church there without a roof. That if you’ve got the beautiful Aegean Sea behind you, there’s no need for a backdrop when you’re building an ancient theatre. And that if you stumble across Europe’s only desert, you might as well have a go at sand surfing. Well, sort of.
